Congratulations on your new Procraft sauna! This guide walks you through the complete assembly process. While we include detailed video instructions with every kit, this written guide serves as a handy reference you can bookmark and follow along.

Before You Begin

Tools You'll Need

  • Power drill/driver with Phillips and Robertson bits
  • Level (4-foot recommended)
  • Tape measure
  • Rubber mallet
  • Step ladder
  • Safety glasses
  • Work gloves
  • Foundation Preparation

Your sauna needs a flat, level surface. Acceptable foundations include:

  • Concrete pad (best for permanent outdoor installation)
  • Patio stones or pavers (good for outdoor, easy to level)
  • Gravel bed (4-6 inches of compacted gravel, outdoor)
  • Existing deck (verify weight capacity — approximately 400 lbs for 2-person, 600 lbs for XL)
  • Indoor floor (any solid, level floor — tile, concrete, or reinforced subfloor)
  • Ensure your foundation is level within 1/4 inch across the full footprint. Use a long level or laser level to verify.

    Assembly Steps

Step 1: Lay the Floor Frame (30 minutes)

Unpack the floor frame pieces and arrange them on your foundation. The floor frame creates the base structure that everything else builds upon.

  • Connect the floor joists using the pre-drilled holes and included hardware
  • Verify the frame is square by measuring diagonals (they should be equal)
  • Level the frame using shims if needed
  • Install the cedar floor boards onto the frame
  • Step 2: Raise the Wall Panels (60-90 minutes)

The wall panels are pre-assembled sections that slot together:

  • Start with the back wall — lift it into position and temporarily brace it
  • Install side walls one at a time, connecting them to the back wall and floor frame
  • Use the included corner brackets and screws to secure each joint
  • Check plumb (vertical) with your level as you go
  • **Tip**: This step is easiest with two people. One person holds the panel while the other secures it.

Step 3: Install the Front Wall and Door (45-60 minutes)

The front wall includes the pre-hung tempered glass door:

  • Lift the front wall assembly into position
  • Secure it to the side walls and floor frame
  • Verify the door opens and closes smoothly
  • Adjust hinges if needed for a proper seal
  • Step 4: Install the Roof (30-45 minutes)

  • Lift the roof panel onto the wall assembly
  • Secure with the included hardware from inside
  • Install the drip edge and any exterior trim pieces
  • For outdoor models: verify the roof overhang directs water away from the door
  • Step 5: Interior Finishing (30-45 minutes)

  • Install the bench supports and bench slats
  • Mount the backrest panels
  • Install the LED light fixture
  • Mount the thermometer/hygrometer
  • Step 6: Heater Installation (30 minutes)

**Important**: The electrical connection MUST be done by a licensed electrician.

  • Mount the heater bracket to the wall at the specified height
  • Place the heater on the bracket and secure with included hardware
  • Install the heater guard/rail
  • Fill the heater with the included sauna rocks (don't overfill — rocks should sit loosely)
  • Have your electrician connect the 240V dedicated circuit
  • Step 7: Final Checks

    Before your first session:

All screws are tight and panels are secure
Door seals properly with no gaps
Heater is securely mounted and rocks are properly loaded
Electrical connection is complete and inspected
Ventilation openings are clear (lower intake near floor, upper exhaust near ceiling)
Thermometer is mounted at head height on the wall opposite the heater

    Your First Sauna Session

  • Run the heater for 60 minutes on the first use to cure any manufacturing residues
  • Open the door and ventilate for 30 minutes
  • Heat again to your desired temperature (start at 70°C for beginners)
  • Enjoy your first 15-20 minute session
  • Cool down gradually — step outside, take a cool shower, or rest
  • Maintenance Tips

  • Wipe down benches after each use with a towel
  • Leave the door slightly open after sessions to allow moisture to escape
  • Sand any rough spots that develop with fine-grit sandpaper (220+)
  • Apply cedar oil to exterior surfaces annually (outdoor models)
  • Check and tighten hardware every 6 months
  • Your Procraft sauna is built to last decades with minimal maintenance. The natural properties of Western Red Cedar — moisture resistance, dimensional stability, and natural antimicrobial oils — do most of the work for you.
